[Edit] you poor buggers on 56k should check out this jpeg version without the pretty borders

Those who know me know that occasionally I am compelled to release my inner geek and create things like this. It usually happens when I am trying to avoid uni work, but not this time.

This is a recreation of the aliens and 'ship' from Space Invaders. It's located in my student house, on the wall going up our stairs. It began as just the three aliens at the top, but thanks to suggestions from ~Aegelward and =madnessism (), I added the player 'ship' and some shots fired, respectively.

It replaces a previous spontanteous decoration I made over christmas. You can see those here. :>

They're made out of one hundred and sixty-nine squares of coloured card, cut from A4 sheets. Yes, it took a long time. But I think it was worth it. I picked the colours for each one myself (with some more help from 'manda). The main photo here doesn't really do it justice imho; but it's hard to get the lighting in this house.

Thanks to everyone who gave me ideas or helped me out (this includes =Redu, +ninjabrick, :devspinegrinder [for correcting the title] and all the other friends whom i bugged incessantly to look at the work in progress).
